About The Herd
Aughloragh Angus herd is situated in north Galway approx 3 miles
from Tuam. My father was a suckler farmer all his life and after
returning from college in 2003 I set about starting our pedigree
angus herd. It has been expanding ever since. After much travelling
I bought our first angus heifer from the renowned Kilkelly herd
and it wasn’t long before I purchased another impressive heifer
from this farm. Shortly after I added a couple of quality heifers
from established breeders but with farmers unwilling to part with
their very best cows/heifers I turned to embryo transplant to get
the very best bloodlines on the ground.
In 2007 I purchased embryos from Owen O'Neill (Bova A.I.) that
were from the famous cow Belvin Lady Blossom 6404. This was a success
and I now have a fantastic heifer and two outstanding bulls from
this cow. Both bulls (Maternal brothers to Bova Lord Blackwood H175
out of Bova A.I. catologue) would make brilliant stock bulls. I
have also two heifers due to calf in September with embryos from
the exciting combination of Belvin Lady Blossom 6404 and Belvin
rebel.

My breeding policy is
simple, I keep the best and cull the rest, i have no time for sentiment
so if the cows/heifers are not up to scratch they won’t be kept.
I use 100% A.I. and I spend a lot of time trying to source the very
best bulls, a combination which leads to elite offspring. We usually
have stock for sale all year round and visitors are always welcome
to view stock.
A selection
of top quality bulls will be sold in Carrick on Shannon in
