Brownhall Salers Herd

In 2005 we purchased Uraine who was Supreme Champion in France in 05. She is a well balanced cow with excellent beef and fleshing ability. Her French scores rate her in the top 2% females in France. Uraine has produced top class off spring on the farm to date which will continue to form the backbone of the Brownhall Salers Herd for years to come.

Ten years ago we made a conscious decision to start breeding Salers and its one decision that I am extremely happy with. Working as a farm contractor means working long hours and seven days a week in peak times. We were looking for a breed that could still produce well muscled stock, excellent maternal qualities and with a particular emphasis on ease of calving. After plenty of research and speaking with breeders we purchased our first two heifers from the well known breeder Michael Mc Keown in 1998. The following year we travelled to Auvergne a mountainous plateau of South Central France where we purchased two heifers. We have travelled over and back over the last ten years and we have imported ten heifers and a bull in total.
