About Derrygullinane Limousins Herd

Derrygullinane Limousins was established in 2001, through careful selection of top proven Limousin Sires crossed with cow families within the Herd from proven bloodlines has created a high Genetic base from which future breeding programmes will develop, the final acquisition for the Herd Base was the purchase of select number of stock from Meenogahane Herd dispersal namely The ‘Jewel in the Crown’ Otarie – now an eleven year old cow that has continued to produce progeny each year and also has been flushed successfully. Three Ideal 23 Daughters from Otarie have also been successfully flushed to Grahams Samson, Ocean and Nenuphar – these calves will hopefully be on the show circuit in 2009.

The cow families also consists of Geant, Genereux, Gamin, Neuphar, Otan ,Genial,and Ferry. We use 100% AI on all our females using sires with proven pedigree such as Mas Du Clo, Ronick Hawk, Ocean, Will lodge vantastic, Sympa, Graham Samson, Ronick Iceman and sauvignon.

Achievements

The Derrygullinane Herd has won First Prize in Small Herds Section of North West Limousin Club in 2007 & 2008, in addition the Herd has won Best Young Heifer in both Years.
