Kilcumreragh Charolais Herd

Kilcumreragh herd purchased the herds first two females from France in 1989 and since then we have developed the Charolais Herd over the last twenty years. Today we are breeding sixty top quality females with excellent pedigree.. We have imported over thirty cows from the top herds in France concentrating on structure, breed quality with good maternal traits. Our breeding programme is striving to ensure that our females can bring the very best out of their progeny and therefore excellent maternal qualities play huge part in our selection process of females. Natural development by concentrating more on consistent breeding has ensured that our females prove very fertile and mature naturally. Our health programme is a fundamental part of the herd development and in 2009, seventeen of our eighteen heifers went in calf to AI first time. Kilcumreragh Bulls are all from top Sires backed up by quality pedigree on the Dam side also and we sell 95% of our Pedigree stock from the farm with over 50% of our sales coming from repeat customers in Ireland and Scotland.

In 2009, we received the Top price of €10,200 at the Premier Sale in Tullamore for a Bull by Major and Merveille and we had good success at the National Championships. Also in 2009, we have exported twelve females and four Bulls. Our Stock Bull Urouke by Oscar was champion in La Roche, France and Semen is available in France and Ireland. Our female herd consists of sires such as Major, Oscar, Fakir, Hutch, Merveille, PTI Prince, LUI, Meardy Impeccable, Meardy Sinndar, Pinnochio and Sylvain. Embryo transplant also plays a major part in the herd from our Top 2 Cows Segara and Tequila.
