About Liscarn Salers Herd

Liscarn Salers were established in 2002, working five days a week we were looking for a breed that could breed excellent offspring and were easy to calf. Having spent a lot of time researching the breed, talking other Saler breeders and visiting Saler farms we purchased our first Saler Cow and Bull form Tom Stenson. Since 2002 we have purchased heifers each year building up a top quality herd. Today we are breeding ten Pedigree Saler cows.

Running alongside the Pedigree Salers is a commercial herd comprising of Aberdeen X Limousins cows. Our Saler stock bull is running with the commercial herd producing weanlings with excellent strength. The Saler X Angus/Limousin cross cows have bred top class replacement heifers with the Saler maternal traits coming through.

The performance of the Saler s has surpassed my expectation. I couldn’t believe how quickly newborn calves were on their feet and sucking. All my cows have calved unassisted, this means I can go to work each day and not worry about them. The weanlings that the Salers have produced have equalled and surpassed some of our continental breeds.

All of our stock is sold off the farm and there is great satisfaction when we have repeat customers. We keep a selection of heifers each year for breeding purposes.
