Lisnatea Angus
Lisnatea Angus was established in 2004 by Gerry Gacquin. We have
a small holding located in the Suck Valley and we were looking to
produce quality animals. It didn’t take us long to make up
our minds. We were looking for a breed with excellent fleshing ability,
ease of calving, docility and more importanty a ready market to
sell the off spring. The major advantage for the angus bull is that
he can be sold into a dairy herd or a beef herd. The heifers produced
off dairy herds are very much sought after for replacement heifers
in beef herds. The ability of the Angus cattle to finish off grass
makes the breed a popular choice for those farmers wishing to maximising
profits.
We have invested in quality foundation females with the aim to
produce top quality stock with size, growth and overall excellent
conformation. In 04 we purchased three top class females from the
well known Moydrum herd of Michael Flanagan. We also purchased another
cow from renowned breeder William Stroker. These four cows have
provided the foundation of the herd today. We use bulls on the farm
that have proven traits, ease of calving, fleshing ability and size.
Lisnatea Angus has a very strict breeding policy. Any animal that
is not up to the high standards of pedigree breeding will be culled.
We believe in producing top quality Pedigree Angus Cattle.
