Mellifont Park Charolais Herd

Mellifont Park Charolais were established in 2005 and is situated in Collon, near Slane in Co. Meath.

The farm and the herd is run by two brothers Ray and Vincent Fitzismons. We purchased our first lot of females from two proven herds namely Blakestown Charolais and the Royal Charolais Herd. In 2008 we also imported two cows, one heifer and a bull from France. To date we have built the herd up to fourteen breeding females who will form the foundation of our herd in the coming years.

The year gone by has been a successful year for us. We qualified for the All Ireland National Show in Carrick on Shannon in September 2008. We also participated in Beef Expo in Kilkenny which was a huge experience for us. We aim to continue to show in 2009.

We currently have a breeding structure in place where we only purchase cows with proven pedigree, excellent maternal traits that will produce top class offspring. We try to use AI on all our females much as possible.
