About Rosemount Belgian Blues

Rosemount Belgian Blues was established in 1992. With a background of breeding Herefords and Simmentals in the family, I was given the opportunity to breed cattle in my own right.

After a long deliberation I decided to purchase my first Belgian Blue. Over the next number of years it became very apparent to me what the Irish farmer needed from the Irish Belgian Blue. We set ourselves out a strict breeding criteria of muscle combined with correctness of legs & feet along with height & longevity. In 1998 we imported two heifers from Belgium, Jocvel Des Oies a Bionique Du Pre Roisin daughter and Atlanta De L'Orgelot an Istamboul De L'Orgelot daughter.

Both of these cows have proven themselves to be top breeding cows and formed the foundation of Rosemount Belgian Blues. Together they have bred All Ireland Champions, the beef EXPO Champion and have bulls standing in AI stations. 'Our strict breeding criteria has lead to us to use blood lines such as TIY, VDC, Blak, Joker, Visconti, Gitan du P Tit Mayeur, Torrero Du Grand Courty ,Classique D St Lambert, Baron Du Bois Bauloye, Gypse De Haute Somme ,Marquis Du Molina, Vireur De Somme, Luron Du Coin, Long De Waleffes, Apache De L'Orgelot, Bivouac et 0718 Du Vivier, Osborne Van Osborne, President Des 1000 Fontaines,D'anseur D'embise' Torrero Du Grand Courty, Dafydd D'ochain, Empire D'ochain, Rector v.t Couture and Heros Du Peroy.

These blood lines have brought us great success in the show and sales ring over the last number of years.
