About the Herd

Wood Road Limouins was established in 1996 to run alongside our existing dairy herd. We initially purchased five heifers from Limousin Breeder Donal Moloney and in 2000 we imported Ideal 23 heifers from France. The dam Nadia B was purchased privately from Donal Moloney a few years ago and has proved to be an excellent purchase providing the Wood Road herd with All Ireland Champions and some excellent prices in the sales ring and she forms the backbone to the herd today. Embryo transplant plays a major role in our herd and we have produced some excellent off spring as a result of giving great care and consideration in selecting top quality sires.

Achievements

Nadia B has produced three All Ireland Bull champions to date including Wood Road Alex who was All Ireland Calf Champion in 2006. The Wood Road Limousin Herd won first prize in the South West Limousin Club in the small herd category in 2007 and came second the following year. In 2007 the herd won “Best Bull and Best Heifer” in the South West Club. During the same year Wood Road Barbara accumulated numerous accolades and rosettes throughout the summer show being South West Club Calf Winner & Reserve Junior female champion.
